Big Gluten-Free Brands Are Disappearing, Opening the Door for Craft Brewers

At a time when expanded beer distribution and rising sales are unusual and hard-won, there’s at least one corner of the beer world experiencing notable demand: gluten-free beer.

Gluten-free beers from independent breweries are filling the shelf and menu gaps left by national brands such as AB InBev’s RedBridge and Omission as well as Montreal-based brand Glutenberg. Once market leaders, those brands have disappeared from shelves and become increasingly scarce. Instead, distributors are turning to breweries that include Seattle’s Ghostfish, Milwaukee’s Lakefront, and Holidaily in Golden, Colorado.
