Last year represented a sea change for online sales of alcohol, with the pandemic accelerating trends that had been steadily taking root for years. NielsenIQ data show e-commerce sales of beer grew 233 percent in 2020 over the previous year, and Nielsen’s experts predict they’ll continue thanks to a “lingering homebody economy.” Much of that growth came via marketplace sites such as Drizly or goPuff as well as online grocery orders from stores such as Kroger and Walmart.
